February 4, 2022Valentine’s Day Nature Scavenger Hunt (+ Free Printable)

Valentine’s Day is a day for sharing our love with family, friends… and the planet! One of the first steps to showing our children how to care for our planet is to let them explore nature at their own pace. This Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt is an invitation for children to do just that, to explore nature using all of their senses.

How do I use this Valentine Day Nature Scavenger Hunt?

This Valentine Day Nature Scavenger Hunt is meant to be used outdoors! It can also be use in your yard, while taking a walk around your neighbourhood, at a park or along a local trail. Remember, nature is all around us! I tried to make this scavenger hunt simple and accessible for most families living in many parts of the world. So whether it’s winter or summer, snowy or wet your child should be able to find many of these items outdoors.

Here are a few more tips:

  • Encourage your child to touch, smell, look and maybe even taste nature (if you find something appropriate to taste).
  • Attach the printable to a clipboard. This give children something sturdy to write on and you can even attach a pencil to the clipboard with a string.
  • Bring a collection bag and collect bits of nature to decorate your nature table or make in a nature-inspired craft.

You can also pair this Valentine Day Nature Scavenger Hunt with one of these fun Nature-inspired Valentine’s day crafts:
