June 19, 2013Travelling North

Over the last couple days, my little people and I went on a long drive north. We made frequent stops along the way and indulged in tasty treats. Both these things helped to avert major catastrophes. The first thing we did on arrival was stretch our legs and explore the outdoors. There has been a terrible caterpillar invasion this years leaving most deciduous trees stripped bare of their greens. It is a sad sight seeing all the bare trees everywhere but there is still plenty of beauty to be found in the forest. The wild roses are scenting the air with their subtle sweetness; there are even lady slipper orchids peeking through the forest brush. I am sure there is much more to be discovered and I look forward to continuing our exploration of the outdoors as well as spending time with family and friends.

Mud. Ooey gooey squishy goop that forms when dirt and water mix together. Mud has a magnetic force on children. It beckons them to scoop and slide...

Ohhh the caterpillars. It's been a while since I've seen one of those invasions!
