June 13, 2014A Day of Rain

When you live in a place that has a low annual precipitation, a full day of rain feels special. I wouldn’t have thought that while I lived in Vancouver but it’s different here. At the sound of steady rain this morning I curled under the blankets with my little ones. I knew that today would be a good day to rest. My eldest snuck back into bed mid morning for a short nap, at first I thought he was avoiding his chores but it was apparent by his soft snores that he was genuinely tired. The children played with their umbrellas outside while I kept busy in the kitchen making granola and pizza dough. Later we delved into our large stash of library books and read the recently released Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses. It was a nice relaxing day but perhaps I should change out of my pajamas before our guests arrive.
